Executive Pastor Romey L. Patterson

Minister Alisha Patterson

Pastor Patterson serves as the Executive Pastor of The Church of Opportunity. He can always be found at the side of our Senior Pastor helping to carry out the work of the church. His wife, Alisha Patterson, is part of the ministry team and serves as administrator for both the church and the Senior Pastor.


Elder Janet E. Rutherford

Elder Janet Rutherford is a woman of many hats around St. Luke Church of Opportunity. She serves as Chairwoman of the Mabelle Brown Missionary Ministry, Assistant Finance Officer, and Ministry Elder.  As a founding member of the church, she is faithful witness to the heart and purpose of our ministry.


Elder George Isbell

Lady Roslyn Isbell

Elder Isbell, also known lovingly as TJ, blesses the church during every service with distinguished worship. Not only is he a capable preacher of the Gospel as part of the Ministry of Elders, he also serves as musician and worship leader. His wife, Roslyn Isbell, is a part of the praise team and works on media ministry.


Minister Sylvia Andrea

Minister Andrea is a certified Chaplain and a great asset to the St. Luke Church family. She serves on the missionary ministry and is the chair of the Community Health Fair that is held at St. Luke Church of Opportunity.


Minister Francis O. Edwards

Minister Edwards is a veteran of the United States Army. She is the Chairwoman of Pastoral Care and assists in every area she can to strengthen the work of the ministry. Minister Edwards is the founder of Rhema Word Ministries, a social media outreach that can be viewed via Facebook Live each Sunday.


Elder Rhonda Nichols

Elder Nichols serves on the Ministry of Elders. She is known for her energetic and anointed leading of worship service. She is abounding in the field of psychology and public service.


Trustee Russell Corpening, Sr.

Sister Rosetta Corpening

Russell Corpening, Sr. is known for his historic question “Why don’t we honor the holy sabbath?”  His revelation sparked fire and great revelation within our church. His work as Trustee Chairman and personal testimony of healing are a pillar of the church. By his side is his wife, Sister Corpening, who is the Chairwoman of the Usher’s Ministry of St Luke Church of Opportunity. Her smile and Christian greetings help set the tone for every service.


Trustee Margert Ann Avery

Sister Avery is a founding member of the church. Her work as Trustee spans the full length of the life of the church. She is a testament to the faithfulness and commitment that our family is founded on. Through the years she assisted the church in just about every office except for the pulpit.


Trustee Donald Taylor, Jr.

Donald is another dual worker. Not only does he hold in trust the property of the church, he plays the drums to assist worship. He is known in the city of Morganton as one of the best due in part to his playing from his childhood. He and his family have been a part of the church since its founding.


Sister Myra Mathis

Sister Myra is Superintendent of Sabbath School and Chairwoman of Vacation Bible School. She has served the church faithfully for many years. Her work helps lead those in attendance into deeper revelation of the Word of God.


Farrah Corpening

Farrah serves as the Treasurer for the Church of Opportunity. Her background in accounting and hotel management have been a blessing to the church. We are thankful for her faithfulness in using her knowledge for the Kingdom.


Mother Betty Happoldt

Mother Happoldt is another of the founding members of the church. She has served the church faithfully for years. Known for her culinary skills and work on the usher ministry, she represents the church well. As a Mother, she focuses her attention to prayer and encouraging the saints. We honor her for her service.
